Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands – New Details Revealed!

Today Ubisoft announced that Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands(TM) will ship May 2010 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, the Wii(TM) system from Nintendo, the Nintendo DSi(TM) and Nintendo DS(TM) systems, and Windows-based PC. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands(TM) will expand the Prince of Persia universe with a new storyline, the introduction of new characters, and new powers over nature and time. The game takes place between Prince of Persia® The Sands of Time and Prince of Persia Warrior Within(TM).

About the Game
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is the next chapter in the fan-favorite Sands of Time universe. Visiting his brother’s kingdom following his adventure in Azad, the Prince finds the royal palace under siege from a mighty army bent on its destruction. When the decision is made to use the ancient power of the Sand in a desperate gamble to save the kingdom from total annihilation, the Prince will embark on an epic adventure in which he will learn to bear the mantle of true leadership, and discover that great power often comes with a great cost. Dungeon Fighter Online is stuffed with dozens boss monsters, each capable of ending a long dungeon adventure in doom. To help players learn more, Nexon America has released screenshots, information and a video featuring six of the more fearsome bosses featured in the action-adventure online game.

Gamers can tackle these foes alone but those who feel it’s too steep a challenge should team up with other Dungeon Fighters in co-op mode.

Here are details on each of the bosses shown in the video:

Flaming Binoche

Deep in the heart of the great conflagration that consumes Garqarak Forest lives this terrifying queen of fire. Clad entirely in crimson, her trusted polished gold sorceress staff in her grip, Flaming Binoche makes herself known with a piercing shriek that strikes fear into the heart of even the most intrepid Dungeon Fighter. When she rises into the sky, beware of the blazing meteors she calls down from the heavens.

Ghoulguish

The walking dead have no feeling, they have no fear, they have only one thing, and that’s the irresistable urge to feed on you. And the most fearsome of the undead is Ghoulguish. He may be shrouded in the dark energy of the shadow, but the chill of his touch is ever-present as you try to defeat him. Even on the opposite end of the final Shadow Thunderland dungeon room, he can strike with a frosty blow that knocks you to the ground, where you may become the answer to his hunger.

Light Castellan Sieghart

In the darkest, innermost room in Sky Tower, the bright, searing light of Sieghart’s bolts of lightening illuminates Castellan’s Chamber. A thousand years ago he lead his army, hacking and slashing, into this mystical castle…and they remain today, violent echoes of a bygone time. When he finally reach Sieghart, he’ll call down his bolts of lightening to where ever you may be hiding, so keep moving.

Great He’etako

The He’etako’s hunt in packs, creeping through the folds an crevices of whatever terrain they infect, usually in great numbers. Of course, the one the Dungeon Fighters call the Great He’etako needs no pack, a giant, radial beast that can summon a wide variety of his slimy bretheren to rain down pain upon you. He is known to shroud his prey in a blinding muck of ink before devouring it whole. So when the lights go out, watch for his attack.

Gangling Lotus

The eighth strongest Apostle, Gangling Lotus is powerful enough to bring calamity effortlessly to Behemoth, using simply the power of his finely tuned mind. However, it is the task of the Dungeon Fighters to save the temple from this insidious mentalist, who transforms into He’etakos all that fall to his superior brain. You’ll have to resist or else live the rest of your life as an invertebrate.

This vid compares the Scratch Deck to the equipment the company develops for musicians and features Mix Master Mike, who has had a hand in the progress of the title. Thirty Seconds to Mars Brings “WAR” to Dragon Age: Origins

Leading video game developer BioWare, announced today that award-winning rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars will headline the in-game soundtrack for the new epic RPG, Dragon Age: Origins. The title song from the band’s new album “THIS IS WAR” will make its world debut in Dragon Age: Origins before the highly-anticipated album drops on December 8th. Available in the game today, fans and press can also get a first-listen of “THIS IS WAR” in an exclusive game trailer co-produced by Thirty Seconds to Mars front-man, Jared Leto.

DSi XL – New Footage

The Nintendo DSi XL (known as the Nintendo DSi LL in Japan) is the newest edition in the DS family and is slated for release in Japan on November 21st 2009.

Europe and North America are to follow in the first quarter of 2010, with pricing still to be confirmed.

The new console – which is essentially a bigger version of the DSi – hasn’t had the best of receptions, with some people questioning its rather large size, but now you can judge for yourself by seeing it in action:

Jurassic: The Hunted – First Footage

Activision games on the Wii have been mostly either downgraded ports of good 360/PS3 games but even worse or shovelware that Zoo Games/DSI Games would be proud of, this looks a cut above most games.

Last month or so they announced “Jurassic: The Hunted” with very little fanfare and everyone pretty much assumed that even the “HD” versions would be awful so hope for the Wii version was pretty low, lower than even Quantum of Solace (which is actually a bad Wii game that some people like). Anyway here is footage of the Wii version of this Turok wannabe and while its hardly at the high end of FPS goodness that PC and none Wii console owners get, at least it looks better than Far Cry Wii & QoS. I would go as far as say that it looks better than Conduit (though to me that didn’t look that great anyway) but then thats not saying much at all.

Pretty sure most comments will be “blah blah N64 blah blah Dreamcast, blah blah Conduit was teh hawtness” mostly by people who have never seen a Dreamcast or N64 title but whatever. I’m still not expecting much from this title but at least the people porting the game has put some effort in there albeit in a game that looks like another generic FPS on whatever console its on.

Dragon Age: Origins is a living world, and it was designed to be this way to capture the imagination and wonder of future Grey Wardens. The development team took great care to design the world, created with a lot of inspiration from the world around us – the dwarven underground locations reveal inspiration from the great Mayan civilization and Human locations are very similar to Anglo-Saxon structures in the Middle Ages. These are just a few examples of how BioWare has sought to create a dark and epic realm that will keep players of Dragon Age: Origins captivated throughout the epic adventure.

Below, you’ll find the uncut version of the latest Modern Warfare trailer that aired last night during NBC’s Sunday Night Football. I could write a bunch of detailed descriptions of what you’re about to watch, or tell you how I feel about it, but the odds that you’re actually going to read this instead of watching the trailer is pretty slim. So instead, I’ll just tell you that I first witnessed this trailer last night in a crowded steakhouse watching the Chargers/Steelers game on mute. It’s probably a good thing our food hadn’t arrived yet, because I probably would’ve choked on my steak watching the trailer. The steak was delicious, by the way.

Brütal Legend LIVE “Dem-o-Thon” Rocktober 1st

October 1st was supposed to be a joyous occasion for both gamers and the team over at Double Fine, as the demo for Brütal Legend was set to become available for everyone on Xbox Live (as of now it’s still only available to Xbox Live Gold members and people who’ve pre-ordered the game). But Ormagoden, the Cremator of the Sky, had to go and screw it up for everyone. Why do fire beasts always feel the need to complicate things? The Destroyer of the Ancient world has demanded that Brütal Legend receive 666 million downloads, or else he’ll give everyone swin flu. Yeah, that’s right – EVERYONE.

As a result, the guys at Double Fine are holding a live “Dem-o-Thon” on Thursday, October 1st to celebrate the wide release of the demo and hopefully keep Ormagoden at bay. The press release promises “awesome giveaways, a message from Tim’s Swine Flu proofed bunker, Spoilers, Live Axe Lessons” and more. The team will also be doing Q&A via their Twitter page.

If you’re an Xbox Live Gold member, click here to add the demo to your download queue. If you’re a Silver member, you can click the same link starting on the 1st to get the demo. At this point, you really have no excuses not to try it. Not only was it my personal favorite game of E3, but now if you don’t download it and someone you know gets swine flu, you’re going to feel pretty damn guilty.

Latest Final Fantasy XIV Trailer Reveals the World of Eorzea

If you’ve ever listened to the Dibcast (and if you haven’t, well then shame on you), you’re probably well aware of my love for Square Enix’s MMO Final Fantasy XI. You’ve also probably heard me gushing with excitement for their follow up, Final Fantasy XIV. And of course, you’ve probably heard the rest of the Dibcast crew ridicule me mercilessly for both. But the latest trailer straight from this year’s Tokyo Game Show has me excited all over again. While we’ve seen footage of Eorzea and even some gameplay footage, this is the first trailer that explores the more social aspects of the game world. Honestly, if there was an MMO that could keep me away from Star Wars: The Old Republic, this would be the one. Check out the trailer below, and try to be brief when making fun of me in the comments.

New MAG Trailer

Massive Action Game…Yes, undoubtedly one of the more ridiculous names for a high-profile video game in recent memory, but none the less, it’s definitely one of the more anticipated games currently in development for the Playstation 3.

Sony, looking to make a move into the console MMO market with developer Zipper Interactive (Socom US Navy Seals) are bringing MAG to PS3 owners worldwide sometime in 2010. MAG, also known as Massive Action Game, is spicing things up in the MMO genre by offering a strictly first-person shooter take on things. Supporting massive battles of up to 256 gamers per server, MAG will rely heavily on a squad format where the combat will be broken down into smaller (yet by all accounts, still massive) scenarios with specific objectives.

Currently set for a 2010 release, Zipper Interactive and Sony are running contests with the winners being given access to the online closed beta that they currently have going on. Be warned though, the beta is saddled with an NDA, so keep your tongue in check if you’re lucky enough to get in.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Fortune Hunter Edition

The first big news to come out of this years Penny-Arcade Expo in Seattle, WA. is none other than…a huge tease. Sony has teamed up with Naughty Dog (developers of the Uncharted series) to put together a limited (read: LIMITED) edition for this fall’s flagship title: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. In fact, the “Fortune Hunter” edition is so damned limited that they haven’t even released a proper press-kit for it yet as this small photo below is all that’s been released so far:

Included in this limited special edition is: a (1:1 scale) replica Phurba Dagger Artifact alongside a collector’s artbook and Naughty Dog signed case as well as some unspecified DLC bonuses.

Sadly, the Fortune Hunter edition won’t be available to consumers on a storefront level as Sony will instead hand them out through various contests from now until the release of the game in October of this year. Exciting as the idea of a limited edition actually being limited is, this will undoubtedly leave thousands of Nathan Drake fans disappointed dreaming of the days when the game of their desire has a shelf’s worth of collectors editions still available months after release (…looking at you, Bungie). Dragon Ball Online

As the over-saturation of the MMO market marches forward and gamers continue to flock to whatever the new flavour of the month is, developers and publishers continue to shell out the exuberant amounts of kwan (read: cash) to get their feet wet in the blossoming genre. Unfortunately, 9 out of 10 times companies are rudely awaken as after the first few months they see subscriptions fall and their user-base fade away. At times, you can blame the company for not fully developing their end-game content, or the IP they’ve based their online entry on (poor Wachowski brothers, they doomed themselves from the beginning), but more often then not it boils down to one simple yet genre-controlling realization: No one can truly topple Blizzard’s World of Warcraft. Sooner or later, the numbers prove that while freshly released titles can gather early momentum, Blizzard always manages to bring gamers back to Azeroth.

One of the standout titles from the past few years that has managed to find a home in the MMO market alongside the behemoth known as WoW is Funcom’s Age of Conan. Conan, while initially criticized for it’s lacking of higher level content, has managed to carve a home in the hearts of MMO fans worldwide with its action heavy, greatly loved IP-based gameplay. One of the questions remaining around Conan is whether or not it has succeeded based upon the gameplay itself, which is critically adored, or if the Conan name itself carries enough weight to bring gamers together from across the globe.

Banking on the latter, Korean/Japanese developer NLT has Dragon Ball Online in the works. Set to go into a private beta later this year, Dragon Ball Online sets out to right the wrongs done by the hollywood movie (Dragonball Evolution) released earlier this year which was critically and financially annihilated by fans from all over. Although the North American market is definitely not what the developer/publisher team is shooting for, a success in Korea/Japan/China would turn a hansom profit for them. Although, you can’t help but believe that with how popular anime (and Dragon Ball specifically) has become in the North American market over the last two decades that a release stateside would be met with at the very least a lukewarm reaction that could garner enough subscribers to make localization worth the hassle.

Warhawk Command Center Walk Through

A new, exciting trailer of Assault on Dark Athena has hit the web this week. From the looks of it, this game will not disappoint fans of the movies or the original game. There is plenty of action shown and tons of stealth and close quarters kills. Most of the focus seems to be on killing a man with your hands instead of shooting him. It just goes to show how much of a badass Riddick can be. This game will definitely be an M rated title with this much blood and violence, but that is a good thing. Now we’ll have more “Pitch Black” and less PG-13 “Chronicles of Riddick” action. Expect the game out on April 7th and look for our review that week.

Dark creatures have taken over Jake’s high school, and it’s up to you to guide him through each classroom in order to be reunited with his girlfriend Rachael. Existing light sources must be used smartly to create bridges of light for Jake to cross. One false step and Jake gets pulled into the darkness. Along the way he’ll encounter twisted versions of his school’s faculty, which must be battled in order to advance. LIT is a horror/puzzle game that requires the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers. It contains 30 levels, five boss battles, replay modes and several unlockables, including multiple endings, Dark Mode timed challenges and an unlockable character.
