Sony has to be getting sick of these leaks. Eurogamer Spain is reporting that they’ve gotten their hands on documentation that details the specs for the PSP2. Not another redesign like the PSPgo, but a true PSP successor.

The document claims the PSP2 will sport a quad-core PowerVR SGX543MP chip from Imagination Technologies, who has provided chipsets for the iPhone, among other products. This chip is apparently capable of running OpenGL 2.0 and Direct X 10, allowing for visuals and speeds equal to, and possible exceeding, the original Xbox. Seriously.

With the PSPgo right around the corner, I find it hard to believe that Sony has another handheld anywhere close to completion. That said, Sony did not issue a denial when asked, instead offering the typical “we do not comment on rumor and speculation”.

So chalk it up to rumor for now, but one has to assume that the PSPgo isn’t the only handheld Sony is working on.
