BioWare has announced Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening, the first official expansion pack to Dragon Age: Origins. Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening will be available for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and PC on March 16, 2010.

Dragon Age: Origins, the Awakening expansion pack brings players a whole new world to explore called Amaranthine. In this new world players discover the secrets of the darkspawn; their true motivations are revealed. Players will battle new horrific and terrifying creatures including a new breed of intelligent darkspawn , Inferno Golems and a Spectral Dragon. Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening provides new customization features for both heroes and parties, including the ability to re-spec their character attributes. Other features include an increased level cap, new spells, abilities, specializations and items and five new party members. Players can continue using their own characters or start fresh with one of the new options.

The Dragon Age story arc continues, following the events of Dragon Age: Origins and puts players into the role of a Grey Warden Commander charged with revitalizing of the order of Grey Wardens. Players will also be in charge of discovering how the darkspawn survived after the death of the Archdemon. How players rebuild , resolve the conflict with the mysterious “Architect,” and determine the fate of the darkspawn are just some of the moral choices that will shape each player’s journey.

    Sounds like this is going to be a good expansion. Let's hope they raise the level cap significantly and allow for party members to make more decisions in combat beyond the usual limited number of combat slots. Maybe a system a little closer to final fantasy 12 gambit system
