People drop things.  It’s just a fact of life.  We drop our cell phones.  We drop our ice cream.  We drop our pants.  We drop our bows on unsuspecting hoes*.  Hell, we even drop our babies!**  That’s just life as a human, we makes mistakes.  Things get dropped.  Luckily for us, we no longer have to worry about dropping our Nintendo DSi thanks to the fine folks over at TeknoCreations and their DSi protective gear the TekCase.

The need for quality protective gear for our handheld gaming systems has been around for the better part of two decades and will continue on for as long as we “on-the-go” gamers feel the need to publicly declare our love for Professor Layton, rehashed Square Enix RPGs (love you Chrono Trigger) and of course Mario, stays strong .  Protecting that handful of joy that gives you countless hours of enjoyment is a concern no longer thanks to the DSi TekCase.

Retailing for 29.99 the DSi TekCase not only delivers a solid design that makes sure all of the DSi’s features are easily accessible and protected but does so while providing users with an extended battery life that can boost your play time up to an additional half-dozen hours*** (that’d be six for you mathematically challenged folks).  The TekCase’s internal battery can be charged via any USB port on your computer or the traditional AC outlet method which certainly adds a bit more freedom to your portable gaming.

Side

The TekCase definitely adds a bit of weight and girth to the DSi making it less pocket-friendly but considering the perks it’s well worth the increase in size.  However, if you do feel the need to pop off the TekCase before heading out into the world then you’ll be happy to hear that getting your DSi in and out of the TekCase is as easy as you’d expect.  That means even if you were dropped as a baby you’ll quickly be able to figure it out as it’s as simple as putting a touch of pressure on a certain area and POP, there you have it, you’re back to pocket-sized gaming in no time.

With that being said, 29.99 may be a touch on the expensive side when compared with other protective cases out there, but it’s definitely worth it.  For the additional 10 or so dollars you’ll spend on the TekCase you’re getting a sizeable boost in battery life and the ability to charge the DSi via a USB port which is a huge bonus and makes the TekCase easily the most attractive way to protect and enhance your DSi on the market.  Make no bones about, the DSi TekCase is “win”.
